Une Famille/One Family
Filigrane/Watermark
Part 1
Tensions rise when Juliette, Lucien and Margot take a road trip into the Arabian desert exploring the world of their late father, a scientist who worked in the region. They meet the beautiful Noor, his research assistant, who unveils a father they barely recognize, leaving them with more questions than answers.
Sciences de Terre/ Earth Science
Part 2
A year after their road trip together in Filigrane, Juliette, Lucien, and Margot gather at the family’s country house in Provence. The gaping hole made by their father’s absence can still be felt, despite grand and bold attempts to lunge into the future.
Margot ventures into solo parenting, and is newly pregnant. Lucien falls in love, with hopes of following his girlfriend to America. Juliette takes ownership of the house in Provence, with the idea of opening a bed and breakfast that features regional food.
Arriving in Provence, their task seems simple: pack up or toss out the remains of their father’s life. Complicating this task are Natalie, Lucien’s girlfriend, and her brother, Leo, both visiting from the U.S., Dominique, their neighbor, who knows more about the father than anyone imagined, and the idle film crew of two on location scout in Provence. Added to this, secrets held, one from the next, charge their long weekend together, but none can compete with what is unearthed in their father’s possessions.

Part 3
A summer holiday in the French Alps, a year and a half later, brings the family together again. Leo lives with Margot in Paris, as her lover and co-parent of Hugo, Margot’s son. Lucien and Natalie share an apartment together in New York City, where Lucien continues his genetic research. Juliette makes cooking videos with the video artist, Jean-Luc, keeping him smitten, and at just enough distance, unable to see anyone as equal to her father.
The bond shared by Juliette, Lucien, and Margot reasserts itself with a force not unlike the grandeur of the mountains rising up around them. It wreaks havoc on their love lives, sabotaging efforts to create nuclear families of their own.
Natalie recoils at the strength of their sibling bond, and takes to making late night treks to a local nightclub, solo. A strenuous hike they make together becomes the last straw. Natalie’s willfulness sets in motion events that upend family dynamics and reassert her place among them for good.

One year later, champagne flows in a Paris apartment overlooking the gardens of Palais Royal where attendants celebrate the wedding of Leo and Margot. Relations among the others have changed. Noor, the father’s research assistant from Abu Dhabi, is present, beautiful as ever, with her brother, Nasser, and Sahar, her daughter – the newly discovered step-sister of Juliette, Lucien, and Margot.
